Summer Play and Fun Candid Shots
Posted by Jana on 26 Jun 2015 / 0 Comment

Miko Photography summer family photo sessionIt’s that time of year! Summer has FINALLY arrived! Kids are out of school, and it’s time to let the fun times begin! What activities do you have planned for the summer? Let us know in the comments below. If you are in the Calgary area and are looking for some fun summer ideas, check out this list of 100 Things to do in Calgary This Summer.

Some of our favourite sessions are family photos at the beach, or creek sessions where we can get some fun candid shots, in addition to a nice portrait. The kids grow up so fast, and it is always neat to look back on summer outdoor photos where everyone is naturally already having a good time enjoying the warm weather and new adventures.

Here’s some ideas of when and where you can have some family photos taken this summer:

  • At the beach:  The beach is the number one place for people of all ages to hang out during the summer.  Activities such as swimming, volleyball, sandcastle building, and rollerskating all make for some fun action shots.
  • Sports:  Summer is a great time to enjoy those sports that we are limited to try the majority of the year.  Why not find a  new sport to try as a family?  Maybe kayaking, canoeing, golf, kite-flying, horseback riding, biking, etc.  Trying out a new sport (or continuing with one you already know) is a great opportunity for some laughs and great photos.
  • Day trips:  Summer day activities range from picnics to barbeques to fishing, visiting farms, parks,  museums, the zoo, and so much more.  Be ready to capture these joyous times, as sometimes these simple days trips can be the times you look back on as your fondest family memories.
