Hi. My name is Jana Miko, photographer, editor, owner, and cleaning crew for Miko Photography.
Growing up I have always been the one with the camera, always capturing not only the “monumental events” that occurred but also the everyday’s… the laughter of friends, the silliness and the character of those close to me, and inevitably the beauty that shines through each of our eyes as we experience… life.
As I began my own family, my passion for photography swelled as I strove to not only capture these memories as they unfolded but to create pieces of art that would allow me to cherish these memories in a deeper way and invite others to experience the emotion of my images.
A combination of formal training and the privilege of mentorship and working with a seasoned professional photographer as I started out has created the perfect foundation for me to pursue my passion as a career.
As an artist I love to explore new ideas and let my creativity run free. I believe there will always be something new for me to learn and create as long as I keep my mind open.
My true passion lies in photographing people. ….babies, children of all ages, and families. I love to capture the connections between loved ones and the spirit of families and of friendships. My true satisfaction come when I’ve truly captured ones personality. ‘The window is open’, the essence, the soul is shining through and begs for more than just a glance.
“Every day is a gift.” I don’t know the author of this quote but it should be true for every one of us. Every day should be embraced because it is the everydays that hold the most memories. So take time every day to appreciate it’s gift and reflect often on all the everydays that have brought us to this one and helped form each new memory on top of the last.
During the past 15 years I have enjoyed working as a professional photographer in the Calgary area and have received accreditation in Child Portraiture, Child & Infant Portraiture, High Key Portraiture & Environmental Portraiture. As I continue to learn and expand my creativity, I consider it an honor to photograph each family and individual and capture their memories and create lasting keepsakes they will cherish..
My style is fun and relaxed and my aim is for everyone to enjoy the session which ultimately creates the best results – fun, memorable images of the true you.
